Villiersdorp Winery is committed to a production process that is inclusive and beneficial to all personnel, clients and growers. And to bottling wines that deliver generously on value and enjoyment.
When we met with the then Villiersdorp Cellar Board we were immediately taken by the enthusiasm and openness to change. They wanted to rebrand and rejuvenate their business whilst being proud of their history and how far they have come. We started this project with a brand audit by questioning the board members, general management, winemakers and immediate team.
We then reviewed the brands within the business and their markets – which brought us to the conclusion that the first step would be a new name and brand identity – Villiersdorp Winery. The new name is more descriptive towards an all-encompassing experience of wine that the brand aspires to offer. We drew colour palette and design inspiration from the large industrial old cement tanks for the Villiersdorp Winery Identity, focusing on the simple clean lines which were carried through to the collateral. The new logo is clean and modern, yet industrial, creating a fitting base for the sub-brands that live within it.
The strapline “Heart of the Cape South Coast” expresses the strength of place, as Villiersdorp is located in a valley surrounded by four beautiful passes in the Cape Overberg Region. The client brought in a renowned architect enabling collaboration and for the brand to express itself in a modern industrial style through graphic and interior design applications. The evolution has begun and we look forward to the continued changes and growth of this brand as it develops into a desired destination.
