Oldenburg is situated in an elevated valley of outstanding beauty surrounded by a spectacular mountain amphitheatre. At the heart of the farm lies Rondekop – an iconic, round hill which influences the vineyards planted on and around it, creating a terroir perfect for creating fine wines.

The design of their website has been a creative journey through discovering the beauty that lies within their valley through to their vineyards and processes together with the construction of the new wine cellar. Oldenburg is all about wine and their team is fully committed to this vision.

This new website, that will be going live in June 2020, showcases the farm through the art in the nature of everything Oldenburg Vineyards stands for –  their philosophy of less is more. The natural beauty of their surroundings is what inspired the minimal copy and image heavy qualities of the website, practising restraint and a finer eye for detail and meaning behind every element added to the site.

The olive oil label was designed with as much vigour and enthusiasm as the wine labels, experimenting with new printing techniques and papers. It was inspired by a photoshoot of the olive trees that surround the Homestead and aimed to show the origin of the oil by using a close-up photograph of the tree leaves on the label, keeping the copy minimal. Finishing techniques such as a gun-metal foil mimicking the label designs was used to elevate the design.

The unique location benefits, from the confluence of 8 Natural Elements, create distinctive terroir and allow Oldenburg to make wines that truly reflect their origins. These 8 Elements include the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, mountain ranges, cool winds, elevation, soils and Rondekop itself. These 8 elements were depicted in an infographic, which later translated into a piece of art hanging in their tasting room.

The Oldenburg Vineyards brand identity was further carried through to their stationery and collateral, wine packaging, the identity of their Wine Club, as well as the stationery for their Wine Club dinners.
