The Selene Molteno brand carries the name of its founder and represents her journey of reconnecting with South Africa, her birthplace. Through the brand, she wishes to showcase the quality of South African wool and Mohair, honouring the expertise and passion of all those who have helped to make these fibres amongst the best in the world today.

Selene Molteno brings you high-end knitwear that is entirely sourced and made in South Africa. Their creations are made with only natural fibres and are designed to be sophisticated and durable.

This led us to ask the question, what does the thought of Africa and wool have in common? Warmth. Both are humble, old, trustworthy and serene. Both are treasures that have been over-commercialised, making their authenticity difficult to come by. When you have the opportunity to experience them in their purest forms, they leave you feeling reconnected with nature and the power of simpler things.

Our aim was to take this concept and weave it into the logo design, colour palette and eventually, the full brand. We focused on design elements inspired by modern African mark-making, and colours from the African landscape and contrasted this with a premium roll-out of visual references.
